Access info for Sunday 27th April

This Sunday’s demo is being organised by Oxford for Trans Rights.

We will be meeting at Bonn Square (WHAT3WORDS ///foam.gift.bags) at 11:00am.

General info for the day (all timings are approximate)

  • 11:00am > Meet at Bonn Square
  • 11:15am-11:45am > Speeches
  • 11:45am > March start
  • 12:30pm > Arrival at Oxford Crown Court

The route is around 1.1 km / 0.7 miles.

Access area ♿

  • There will be a designated ‘ACCESS BLOC‘ to ensure those with Disabilities can listen to and watch the speeches in the square.
  • To find the Access bloc in the square: look for a person with pink hair in an electric wheelchair. They will have a tall sign with a wheelchair symbol showing you where to go.
  • There will be some face masks, earplugs and ear defenders available. Feel free to ask a steward, or someone in the Access bloc if you need any.
  • If you cannot find the Access bloc, there will be stewards available to help you should you need.
  • Once speeches are finished, the Access bloc will lead the demo towards the front.

Speeches 📣

  • The people speaking will be atop the steps in Bonn Square. The Access bloc will be towards the front of the speeches for easy viewing and listening.
  • The speeches will be done using a megaphone.
  • Unfortunately, we are unable to fund BSL for speeches. If anyone is able to volunteer to interpret please contact us.

The demo 🚶

  • From Bonn Square, the parade will then start with the Access bloc towards the front. We hope to start walking at approximately 11:45am.
  • There will be brief pauses in the walking throughout the demo so that people can catch up, as well as rest when needed.

We ask that NOBODY overtakes the Access bloc. They are going to set the pace, and we want to ensure everyone can participate and not get left behind.
